There are currently several terms to imply that an ice cream is special or that it is not prepared by some gigantic company. These terms are:
What each one means is a little confusing since apparently every person gives it its own meaning. For example, there are those who sell natural ice cream, but promote it as “artisan” simply to try to sell more. There are those who claim to sell artisan ice cream, but actually use the cheapest products they can find including many syrups instead of raw ingredients. There will also be those who say theirs is natural ice cream simply because they offer fruit flavors regardless of the quality of their ingredients. In other words, don’t be impressed by these terms, look further and find out what is it you are really eating. That’s why we made this section.
We have a little of each of these terms. We describe ourselves as artisanal because they are our own recipes, some of our flavors are with raw local ingredients and because we try to be a bit creative with some flavors as it has been the case of the cheesecake ice cream and “Crazy Monkey” (banana, chocolate and nuts). Our ice cream is also homemade; we prepare them every day in our store and for some of our flavors the preparation process begins in our home as is the case of the local ginger ice cream. We can also say some of our flavor are natural since some of them are prepared with pure local fruit. For example: Passion fruit from Orocovis, tamarind from Santa Isabel, just to name a few and, like all of our flavors, none are made with any rare chemical.
Other facts about our ice cream:
1. Most of the batches we do are sold in 1-2 days and even the flavors that sell slower none stay more than 4 or 5 days. We do not make large productions so that the product is always as fresh as possible. In other words, you’ll never eat an ice cream in our shop that has been prepared more than 5 days ago.
2. Control of ingredients. The advantage for the consumer that we do the ice cream ourselves is that we can control the amount of sugar and lactose among other things.
